After more than thirty years on stage, creating roles in musical theatre, farce and dramatic works, I’ve learned two very important lessons: take what you do seriously but it’s a complete waste of energy taking yourself too seriously. You always end up on your face when you do.
For me, directing community theatre is about collaboration; creating something as a team and encouraging others to create and perform with courage. Working mainly on large scale musical theatre productions, I’ve had the privilege of directing productions including “The Phantom of the Opera”, a production which won an Australia Day Award in 2015, “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying”, receiving 4 Del Arte Chart recognitions, and the Queensland premiere of “Nice Work If You Can Get It”, which received 7 Del Arte Chart recognitions, including Favourite Musical.
I provide social media marketing services to the Queensland community theatre industry, free of charge, through my social media marketing company, design stage sets and sit on the board of Queensland’s largest and longest continuously running musical theatre company, Savoyards Brisbane.
